Specializing in jazz guitar, Davis is a musician with experience in a variety of musical genres and instruments. Davis picked up the guitar at the age of 12 and found himself entranced by music. Through dedicated practice, Davis qualified for the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts two years after he started playing. At HSPVA, he studied under Dr. Gregory Petito and Warren Sneed, while receiving master classes from Grammy award winners such as Robert Glasper and Jason Moran. His constant immersion in jazz culture and education led to frequent gigging from a young age, playing everywhere from jazz clubs to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11. After high school, Davis was accepted to the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas with the Butler Excellence Scholarship and Lomis & Jonnie Slaughter Scholarship in Music. Davis is continuing his jazz education at the University of Houston, and he continues to gig around the city in genres ranging from jazz to rock to blues.
With years of teaching experience, Davis seeks to bring not only increased musical facility to students, but also a lifelong passion for music. He recognizes that students have different goals and learning styles, and he will adapt to student needs to help students down the path toward achieving those goals. Davis hopes to spread the joy and fulfillment that music has brought into his life to the next generation of musicians.
