Mr. Jimmy comes from a musically inclined family that emphasizes hard work and dedication. Influenced by many piano composers and performers of the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic eras of music (with even some pop and rock songs mixed in). Mr. Jimmy has learned many techniques and styles of music. While mainly enjoying listening to classical pieces, he enjoys listening to a wide variety of music.
Mr. Jimmy has developed many skills in performing and teaching students how to play the piano. He always emphasizes sight-reading and music theory, giving the student a well-rounded learning experience. But he always gives the student the flexibility and room to grow by learning different genres of music, not just classical music. He makes sure that students understand what they are playing and not just simply memorizing music. He has made students love and appreciate music and the arts, and has seen several students move on to playing in bands, orchestras, and even getting into theatre performance in various high schools and colleges.
A native Houstonian, Mr. Jimmy has played the piano since the age of 6. He graduated from the University of St. Thomas in Houston with a Bachelor’s in Music Performance. Since then, he has taught piano lessons to students of all ages. He has held many recitals for his students throughout the years and continues to push them to this very day. Mr. Jimmy is excited to continue sharing his love of music with the students of Allegro.
